French plant-based seafood company Seafood Reboot pulls in EUR 3.2 million

Paris, France-based plant-based seafood alternative company Seafood Reboot has received EUR 3.2 million (USD 3.4 million) in funding within the first six months of the company’s creation.

Seafood Reboot was created in October 2021 with the mission of establishing sustainable natural food alternatives, including plant-based seafood analogs made from natural ingredients.

Its new funding round was underwritten by investors including Demeter Partners, Founders Future, Senseii Ventures, and Beyond Impact. The funds will be used to construct a pilot production facility expected to open in 2023.

“[The funding is] a decisive step to prepare the go-to market of a first generation of natural, delicious, and healthy plant-based seafood alternatives,” the company said in a press release.

In addition to their primary focus on plant-based seafood, SeafoodReboot is also investigating the possibility of creating meat and dairy substitutes using microalgae.

“In the light of the climate change emergency and the rapid deterioration of all forms of marine life, the public becomes more and more aware and thus conscious of the need for a change in our diet habits,” the company said.
