The Icelandic Marine Research Institute late last week published a report on the status of fish stocks in Icelandic waters, and, as expected, the organization recommended that the haddock quota be cut and that the cod quota be increased.
The organization is calling for a 2012-13 haddock quota of no more than 32,000, which would be down from 45,000 metric tons, and a 2012-13 cod quota of 196,000 metric tons, which would be up from 177,000 metric tons in 2011-12.
For saithe, a 2012-13 quota of no more than 49,000 metric tons has been recommended, which would be down from 52,000 metric tons in 2011-12.
